Day 15-24

I apologize for being MIA for so long. I sort of lost inspiration and became very distracted, but I hope to turn yet another leaf and jump right back into this again.

Failures
1. keeping fresh flowers alive. i bought beautiful blue hydrangeas. they died on me once i got home
2. eating a sufficient and versatile amount of food. i've realized that my diet was only carbs and dairy, which made me feel very weak and lightheaded. the consequences of being lazy!
3. reading all my library books before they're due :( but i highly recommend the book The Best Advice I Ever Got by Katie Couric. it's very inspirational and motivating!
4. finishing Just Kids by Patti Smith. i guess i'm going to have to buy the book since everyone in NYC wants to borrow it from the library. there is a gigantic waiting list of holds that i prefer not to attempt

Successes
1. coming to terms with the fact that i am a neat-organized-control freak. i literally spend maybe 1/4 of my day cleaning my apartment. i hope this doesn't become an OCD thing...
2. also, coming to terms with the fact that i am pathetic--i get excited whenever i walk into staples and go to the organization sections with all the post-its, planners, journals, etc. ESPECIALLY the Martha Stewart collection.
3. had an amazing picnic with The Guy at Prospect Park in Brooklyn! perfect weather, plenty of food, and some awesome kites. i got to wear my favorite dress of all time, which also served as my prom dress. here's a picture!
and for those Girls fans out there, this dress serves as my version of Marni's "party dress"
4. i managed to burn myself again, while making cheesecake.
5. finally made my hyped up cheesecake. The Guy (or his new nickname "Capellini") approved
6. going back home to Chicago for some quality family time. it was indirectly my dad's idea. my family is very unaffectionate. it might be a Korean/Asian thing. we never say that we love each other, hug or anything like that. so my dad's way of telling me that he missed me was by asking me if i was coming home any time soon every time he called me. he could tell that i was reluctant about coming home so he even came up with some excuses for me to come home, such as going to the dentist, the eye doctor, etc. so, i decided to visit home right before i would start school again. it works out perfectly because my best friend has been going through a difficult time in her life so i've devised an elaborate plan to surprise her :)
